“I had examined myself pretty thoroughly and discovered that I was unfit for military service.”
Joseph Heller, Catch-22
If I was to sum up my feelings about my military service, the above quote is pretty accurate. I found out rather quickly that pursuing a career in the military would be as futile as attempting to force a square peg into a round hole.
Did I learn some things along the way? Yes.
Did I meet some nice people? Of course.
Did I want to hang around for another sixteen years? Nope.
So after four years, I found myself re-entering the “civilian” world, and now eight years later, my contract with Uncle Sam is fulfilled.
Today is a good day.
